Flipbook Machine
A simple tool for teaching animation.
It is a playful educational tool that allows you to play a short animation — an analogue GIF — without using a computer. At the same time, it shows you the basic principle of how animation works.
The process is simple:
-
Draw an animation on A6 tracing paper, using 12 frames — ideally with the help of a lightbox.
-
Place the drawings into the frames and snap the frames into the flipbook.
-
Done! You can now play your animation.
If you do not feel like drawing, you can print any GIF that meets the required parameters instead.
Description
The flipbook is made from beech plywood and beech roundwood. The central cylinder is 3D printed, and the connecting elements are made of stainless steel.
Each of the 12 transparent frames can hold one sheet of A6 paper.
